Fresh Paint: Everything You Need to Know & Then Some

Everett’s own annual arts event, Fresh Paint: Festival of Artists at Work, is happening this weekend, August 20th and 21st from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Port of Everett Marina.

Presented by the Schack Art Center, the Everett waterfront will be packed with over 135 artists. Stacks of “fresh” paintings, pottery, glass, jewelry and photography will be available for the picking. It’s like a farmer’s market of artwork.

Fresh Paint is more than just an ordinary art show. In addition of viewing artwork that has already been created, guests will get the chance to see numerous artists creating their craft right on site; including glassblowing, wood carving, and pottery making.

Live music will be playing throughout the weekend along the promenade, and several food vendors will be on site as well to tempt you with their artistry of food. Best of all, the event is FREE and will entertain the whole family.

This is definitely an event that you'd be sorry to miss, so here are a few extra nitty gritty details to get you in the artsy mood:

Float Find
A special “float find” will be held on Jetty Island on Saturday beginning at 10:30 a.m. Just like an Easter egg hunt, glass floats created at the Schack hot shop, will be hidden on the beach.

Guests will need to ride the free Jetty Island Ferry Boat from the 10th St. Boat Launch and Marine Park. Parking is $3. Reservations for the ferry are recommended but not required. Call 425-257-8304 for more information.

Make Your Own Float
Anyone age eight or older can create their own glass float in the Schack hot shop on Sunday between 12:00 noon and 5:00 p.m. Cost is $50/$60 for Schack members/non-members. Reservations are recommended.

Artists and Demos

Glass Blowing: The “mobile hot shop” will be set up east of Anthony’s Woodfire Grill.

Pottery Demonstrations: Members from the Northwest Clay Club will show how it’s done near the west end of the festival.

Woodcarving: Woodcarvers from Quilceda Carvers will also be found on the west end.
