It’s All About the Fascia, Fascia, Fascia for Juanita “Nita” Dawson LMT/MMT
When it comes to bodywork, you can’t trust just anyone with your most important asset. You want to place your confidence in someone educated and knowledgeable. Someone who advocates for your health and wellness. Someone who can identify and work to fix the root problem. Most of all you want someone with whom you can connect and feel comfortable around.
Allow me to introduce you to Juanita “Nita” Dawson.
Located in the historic Everett Public Market building, Nita’s office is a sanctuary. The lighting is dim and cozy, there are flameless candles, fairy lights, a couch with cozy pillows, wing-backed chairs, soft nature sounds, and an incredible collection of framed art in her treatment room. Nita herself is charismatic with a contagious laugh and sharp wit. With her short spiky purple and silver hair and her bare feet, she is someone you immediately warm up to. Our first meeting was more like a visit with a long-time friend rather than me giving a stranger the low-down on my aches and pains. She also frequently has delicious goodies to offer.
On the treatment side, Nita knows her stuff and she has a toolbox of modalities to use, including Myo-Fascial Release, Deep Tissue Therapy, hot or cold stones, Neuromuscular Therapy/acupressure, hydrotherapy, muscle energy, Swedish relaxation, and prenatal massage. Along with being a Licensed Massage Therapist, she also holds Medical Massage Therapy and Therapeutic Breast Massage certificates and has a state endorsement to provide intra-oral massage, which offers relief from pain caused by TMJ disorders and certain types of migraines.
But, if you ask Nita, it’s “all about the fascia: fascia, fascia, fascia!” Fascia is the thin connective tissue that essentially hold us together. It is full of nerves and when stressed or injured it can tighten up and cause pain and discomfort. Over time-stressed fascia can become hard and crunchy, leading to chronic pain. Nita focuses on loosening and lengthening that fascia to reduce pain, increase blood flow, increase range of motion, and allow your own body to begin to heal itself.
The products that Nita uses are high-quality organic cannabis health and beauty aids (CHABA) that she uses on her own body. She also has non-CBD products for those who are sensitive to cannabis products. Appointments are available Monday through Saturday with evening hours available
