Sushi Ring: All You Can Eat With A Few Agreeable Rules
I am a total and complete sucker for All You Can Eat Sushi at Sushi Ring. I like to bring one or more friends with large appetites so they can help me eat all the rolls that I order. Regardless, I always end up overeating and have to stagger out of the restaurant in a food coma.
I’ve been eating at Sushi Ring for years and it has always been good. The fish is high quality, the rice is consistent and perfectly sticky, and the toppings are always fresh and generous. The $36.43 price tag for All You Can Eat might be a bit shocking but prices for individual rolls range from $7.99 to $16.99 (hand rolls are smaller and are slightly cheaper and nigiri is cheaper but less adorned). I’m not mathy but I figured out that you only need to eat 4.5 of the lowest-priced rolls to get your money’s worth, if you don’t partake in an appetizer (priced $2.00 to $10.99).
There are some rules for ordering All You Can Eat: you cannot share with someone who is not ordering All You Can Eat, you cannot strip the rice off of your roll and eat just the fish and veggies (they will charge a fee for excessive food waste), and there are no to-go boxes for leftovers. You come, you order, you eat, you conquer, you roll yourself home. Dem’s the rules.
All that aside, the All You Can Eat menu comes with appetizer options: pot stickers, edamame, green salad, miso soup, Agedashi tofu, calamari, or mussels. While the options are all tasty (especially the pot stickers), I highly suggest skipping the appetizer and saving that valuable stomach room for sushi. You can pick from anything on their sushi menu, including: long rolls, special long rolls, hand rolls, and nigiri. I suggest sitting at the bar so you can watch the magic unfold before your eyes.
My boyfriend and I started out strong with an Alaska roll (crab, salmon, tobiko) and a Philly roll (cream cheese, salmon, avocado). Our second round included the Dragon roll (tempura shrimp, avocado, eel) and the Caterpillar roll (eel, crab, avocado). And finally, with the same enthusiasm but much less room in our tummies than our previous rounds, we ordered our final knockout round: an Atlantic Salmon roll (spicy crab, asparagus, salmon) and an S.O.B. roll (spicy tuna, yellowtail, salmon, tuna, spicy mayo).
Every roll we had was delicious but the rolls at the top of my personal list were: Alaska, Dragon, and S.O.B. While we didn’t partake in the nigiri or the hand rolls, I have had both from Sushi Ring before and they’re also delicious. The menu also offers teriyaki, chicken katsu, and tempura. Adult beverages include a few delicious imported beer labels,some domestic and also a selection of wine and sake.
You don’t have to play this game of stuffing yourself like the Thanksgiving bird, you can order a la carte from the menu…it’s just not as fun.
