You Could Name EVT's Newest Park. Here Are My Top 5 Name Ideas.

There’s a new park opening soon in Everett.

It will be next to the new YMCA and will be the first park ever in the Glacier View Neighborhood in Central Everett.

The as-yet-unnamed 1.2-acre park will have a playground, fitness equipment, a rain garden, a gathering plaza, open space, and connected walking paths. Very nice.

The city is accepting name proposals from the public right now. Yes, you can submit a name and the city might choose your idea.

Here are my best park name ideas so far.

1. Kenny Loggins Park

A tribute to Everett’s glorious native son. Be warned: this park may include a “danger zone.”

2. Big Hill Park

Totally unimaginative civic name job, in the style of “Forest Park” or "Silver Lake."

There’s a big hill, there’s a park. Let’s not overthink this.

3. Simpsons’ Hollow

As we recently reported, there’s a strong link between The Simpsons TV show and Everett. “Simpsons’ Hollow” is a sly nod to “Wiggums Hollow” in the north part of the city (note: my park name has a possessive apostrophe. An improvement, grammatically.).

4. Parktopia Parkway

A reference to one of my favorite shows on KSER. It’s a super-inside joke for locals only.

5. Seagull Park

A wildlife preserve in which citizens dodge birds who try to steal their french fries. Oh wait, that’s every park in Everett already.

Got an idea? Submit your name here. But hurry! The deadline for submissions is June 7.
