5 Budget-Friendly Outings

Hey there, penny-pinchers. I'm with you. My New Year's resolution is to save money.

Here are some ideas of how to have a good time out on the town without breaking the bank.

1. Glacier Lanes’ Quarter Mania

Have you heard about Quarter Mania? It’s on Sunday nights from 9 p.m to 11:30 p.m.

There’s a $6 cover charge for each player, then it’s time to bust out those coin rolls. On Quarter Night it’s 50 cents for:

  • Each game of bowling
  • Shoe rental
  • Soda
  • Fries
  • Hot dogs
  • Chips & dip
  • Coffee

Oh, and domestic draft beers are $1.25. Can’t beat that deal.

2. Interurban Trail

Bike, run, jog, or walk on this paved path that leads from Milltown all the way to the Emerald City. It's free, and it's a good way to spend a weekend morning or afternoon when you're saving your dough for something big.

The trailhead is just south of 41st Street and Colby Avenue and is marked with signs.

Our city is quite bike friendly. I like to ride down to Pigeon Creek sometimes. It's my favorite chill spot.

3. Taco Tuesday at Sol Food

Several places offer Taco Tuesday, but there’s no place on Hewitt that hops on a Tuesday evening like Sol Food.

At only a couple bucks per taco you can save a little more cash for margaritas or a Dos Equis with lime (or three). The result is a good time at a reasonable price.

4. Joe-nut Fridays! At the Sno-Isle Co-op

This weekly deal is for Co-op members only. Every Friday morning you can stop by the historic building/grocery store and for $3 you can get a 12 oz. cup of coffee or tea and a Mighty-O donut.

Cup of Joe + donut = Joe-nut. You get it.

5. $2 Pints at the Scuttlebutt Taproom & the Scuttlebutt Restaurant

IMHO this is a killer deal. Two bucks for any pint at the Scuttlebutt Restaurant on Wednesday. All day. You can get the same deal at the Scuttlebutt Taproom on Thursdays.

There's no wrong way to play this, but may I recommend Scuttlebutt's raspberry moeite? It's 9% ABV, sour, juicy and just a little sweet. It goes down so smooth and packs a wallop. 2 or 3 in and you'll see what I mean. Enjoy!

Ahhh, Everett! You can live here like a king for only dollars a day. But shhhh, don't let the secret out.
