Be Your Own Legend at Funko HQ

When my sister-in-law from Denver came to visit last month, I had a long list of adventures for
us to do. One of those toward the top of the list was to go get our fun on at Funko in
downtown Everett.

I am going to guess that since this is the coolest blog around about life in Everett that most of
you surely know about Funko by now. I mean we’re all Everett fans and Everett got way
elevated on the fun scale when those crazy figures appeared on our streets. Funko outside sets
the tone for Funko inside.

But today, I’m not talking about the bobbleheads or the superheroes or the envy-inducing
Batman car inside. Those are all cool but, instead, I want to be sure you know that Funko can
help you be your own superhero or your own comic character or at least your very own vinyl
figure.

Inside, past all the creative characters and merchandise, you can find two kiosks with four
screens. Park yourself in front of one of those and have the fun of making yourself a character.
You get to pick hair — color and style; glasses; hat; what you wear and accessories. Me, being a
Jingle, I went full-on for the elf look and since I like to write and read, I selected a book to
accessorize my finished look. At the end, you can add a pet and you get to select your own
name for the new character. Then you simply print out a tag, hand it in at the counter and,
literally, just minutes later, you are your very own legend in a box.

This is fun! The day we were there, Funko was busy and every screen was full of creators of all
ages laughing with their friends and family as they made their choices. Having fun here is not
restricted to the 10 and under generation. Funko is for everyone that is young and young at
heart. One grandfather next to us was making five — one to take home as a vacation souvenir
for each of his grandkids.

Of course, this is a way to razzle dazzle your out-of-town guests, but it also makes a unique gift.
They have really cute accessories, for instance, for a birthday greeting with a cake and party
hat. Or take your graduate something creative with a figure in graduation gown and diploma in
hand.

For some, a visit to Funko may seem like a one-and-done kind of place but for this fun-lover,
it’s a smile maker and I’m happy to be a regular. And a very fetching vinyl character as well.
