A New House Inside Town & Country: Field House
My parents live in Mill Creek so every once in a while, after a nice visit, I let myself wander down the road a little farther for a bit of splurge shopping at the Town and Country Market.
Like Whole Foods Market in Lynnwood, grocery shopping at Town & Country is a little on the pricey side for my budget. But . . . I flat out adore their produce department. They make their quality produce look so beautiful and inviting. I end up taking pictures of two or three displays every time I visit. I find I’m tempted to buy radishes just by how they display them and I don’t even like radishes!
On my most recent visit, Town and Country offered a surprise: they have a new restaurant called Field House. Well, while I hadn’t exactly planned on getting lunch right then, I wasn’t necessarily not hungry and I do like to find new things to share with you all, so I joined the line to order.
The place might be fairly new, but if you went by the lunch crowds on the weekday I was there, it has caught on quick. Field House offers breakfast and lunch/dinner items. Even brunch on the weekends. They have inside and outside seating, though the outside seating, knowing our Pacific Northwest weather, might be seasonal.
For breakfast, most of the items on the menu were versions of morning-style sandwiches. There are bagels, a burrito and a couple of sandwiches with meat and eggs. But there are also pastries, a yogurt parfait and an acai bowl.
The menu from 11 to 8 pm is the same for both lunch and dinner. They have shareable items, salads, burgers, sandwiches and pizzas. Plus some seasonal items and house specialties like mac and cheese and dungeness crab cakes.
For my unplanned visit, I ordered the seasonal sockeye BLT sandwich and it was delish! The salmon was cooked perfectly and the tomatoes were “best-of-season” as described on the menu and tasted garden fresh.
My dining partner, aka husband in this case, was hungry for some beef and ordered a bowl of smoked brisket tots. It was, as described, house-roasted brisket layered with tater tots. A lot of tater tots. It was good but we both liked mine better. His selection had a little too much bbq sauce for our taste.
And both were large servings. Oh my goodness. In fairness, his was billed as a shareable but my sandwich was huge and came with a load of nice crispy fries. We could have split either dish and had plenty to eat. Next time I’m thinking I’m going to try one of the salads. I saw several come out and they looked inviting. But be warned! They were large too so depending on your hunger level you might want to split an entree and save room for a decadent treat from Town & Country’s bakery department.
Or, as an alternative, fill up on a smoothie! My guy ordered the featured berry blast smoothie and it was addicting. He might have got quite a bit of help with it from his wife who had insisted she didn’t need one. (Well, I really didn’t think I did!) We both recommend it. In fact, even if dining isn’t what I’m interested in doing my next visit to Town & Country, I could totally see getting one of these to guzzle down. Oh, I mean sip on demurely, of course, while I select beautifully displayed radishes to place in my shopping cart.
Treat yourself! Go try out Field House. (They even have Nutella pancakes on the weekends. Be a hero with your kids!)
