If you’re a parent in Everett, chances are you have been to Imagine Children’s Museum. Your kids have delighted in the water play area or raced around the rooftop playground. If you‘ve visited since Imagine’s incredible expansion which doubled its size, they have marveled at the aquarium filled with creatures native to Puget Sound and gasped as they gazed up at rope and wooden bridges stretched across a canopy of trees. But this incredible family attraction offers even more than an enjoyable exploration of its eighteen exhibits. There are opportunities to learn and discover in classes and camps for everyone, from toddlers to tweens.

If you have little ones, there’s Toddler Time for children 15-36 mo. and their caregivers or Preschool Explorers for 3-5-year-olds. Every session meets an hour a week for four weeks and focuses on a different theme with engaging learning activities, art projects, sensory play, and more. Kids get a chance to meet and play with peers and grow in their social skills, forming first friendships.

These programs start in September, but you don’t have to wait that long to get your kids involved in the playful learning at Imagine! This summer Imagine offers camps! For 3-5 year olds, the camps are one week long, half-day, and meet at Imagine or Evergreen Arboretum. where they’ll discover, experiment, and create.

Don’t worry that the older kids will be left out of the fun! There are half-day STEM camps for kids from 5-7 where they can explore construction, weather, and even marine science, and full-day camps for kids 7-11 where they can explore nature and fossils. Budding artists 7-11 can discover the science of art and the art of science or enjoy an incredible rooftop evening camp on famous artists and their styles. Kids this age can also join a full-day camp, exploring nature, fossils, and environmentalism. Check Imagine’s website for availability, dates, and costs.

Maybe you are reading this and thinking your child can’t even visit the museum without being sensorily overwhelmed. I understand that feeling because my child is on the autism spectrum. I have great news for you! Since September 2016 on the third Sunday morning of every month, Imagine has opened its doors exclusively to families with children dealing with sensory needs. The lights are lowered, the overhead announcements and music are off, the crowd is smaller and tools like headphones, fidgets, and sunglasses are available. Kids can enjoy themselves without getting overstimulated, and parents can relax and have fun with their children and interact with other families. Imagine’s own Marco Cortes, is also on hand bringing smiles to everyone with his music. If you’d like to participate in this FREE Sensory time, please pre-register at the website in order to eliminate crowding.

As you can see, there is so much happening at Imagine this summer! I hope you and your kids will someday look back and reminisce on all the memories you made summer of 2024 right here in Everett.
