Sign This Petition for a More Bike Friendly City
Last week Everett Bike Walk posted a petition on their Facebook page calling for more non-motorized transportation options for the city’s residents. The community organization has addressed the document to Mayor Franklin and City Council members.
The signable Google Form calls for, among other things, 50 new bike racks, wayfinding signage, and the appointment of a “Non-Motorized Transportation Coordinator” among city staff.
The petition also notes that the City of Everett already adopted a Bicycle Master Plan in 2011, and that parts of the plan have yet to to be implemented.
“The ability to safely walk and ride bikes in any community provides benefits to personal health, social health, the local economy, and affordability,” says EBW spokesman, Tyler Rourke.
Everett Bike Walk was formed in October 2017 and has about 120 members. They meet on monthly basis to coordinate efforts in making Everett streets safe and efficient for all.
