Spot Check: Lazy Boy Brewing

I have a shameful confession to make. Until last week, I had never been to Lazy Boy Brewing. Absurd. I know.

With the August Evvy Awards for Everett's best brewery in full swing, I knew I had to finally check out this Everett staple. Lazy Boy did not disappoint.

Just a stone's throw away from Middleton and Crucible Brewing (which by the way, how cool is it that South Everett has 3 breweries in the same neighborhood?). Lazy Boy is tucked away in a business park just off Everett Mall Way. I think Lazy Boy's location was the main reason I had never stumbled in before. It's not a place you just happen to drive by and see it. You have to go find it, but it's still super convenient to get to, and definitely worth investing the 30 seconds it takes you to look it up on google maps.

The taproom has a great vibe. Sitting in the brewery surrounded by kegs, a popcorn machine and quite possibly the largest kitty cat I've ever seen (whose name is apparently, "Teddy" according to our Instagram comments). The taproom feels really comfortable and authentic.

I got their traditional flight which consisted of their Kolsh, Bavarian Hefeweizen, Amarillo Pale, IPA, and Porter. The flight was a really pleasant experience. Not only were the beers delicious, they were served in order of light to dark, and I was also given a sheet with each beer's description written out in the same order that the beers were served. This seems like a simple detail, but I can't believe how often this gets over looked.

I typically prefer darker beers, but it was a hot day, so the Amarillo Pale in the dead center of the flight was hands down the most enjoyable. It was really crisp but had a nice full flavor at the same time. Definitely hit the spot. The IPA and Porter were classically delicious. The 2 lighter ones were good, but just not as much my preferred style.

The service was top notch. I didn't catch the fellow's name, but he was awesome. Super nice, attentive and personable. We had a group of 5, and I think we all left happier than when we arrived. Which is always a good sign that an establishment knows what there's doing. Or maybe just that the beer was working. Either way- it was a great experience.

Apparently you can even trade a pint of your blood for a pint of Lazy Boy beer- so even if your cash flow is low you have no excuse to not go try one of their many brews (currently 10 different beers on tap). Who needs blood anyways? I mean, other than Bloodworks Northwest. Apparently.

All in all, I'm really stoked I finally checked out Lazy Boy. I can see why they're still going strong after 10 year of brewing in Everett. My pictures didn't really show it, but they do have a decent number of tables and even some outdoor seating. So keep 'em in mind when you're making the rounds doing research for Everett's best brewery. Voting ends Wednesday, so remember to vote soon!
