While running errands this week, I was appreciating the sounds of lawn mowers and the sight of dark shadows on the bright ground and blooming flora spilling over fences. But, it wasn't until I saw three city workers, bent over a planter, that I realized that spring has truly arrived in our city.

Brion, Spencer and Robin work for Parks & Community Services. They were up to their elbows in plants and dirt, beautifying the historic, city-owned Van Valey House at 23rd and Colby. They had multiple stops on their day with a full spring schedule of plantings and maintenance around the city.

In fact, the city hosts 'Viva Color' each spring - a community event where Everettonians of all ages can join Parks staff by planting flowers around the city. The city will host a Mukilteo Boulevard planting on Saturday, June 1 2019. Check out this city page for the details.
