Everett
Current City/Neighborhood?

Poetry, Music, Watercolors
How did you first get started in your craft?
By listening and watching my parents and friends. My dad would often play guitar while I was nodding off to sleep. My mom and our mutual friend Pat let me use their paint brushes and offered me canvas and paper to experiment with paints. My brother let me read Jack Kerouac's book, "Dharma Bums." Reading that book, with characters like Jack Kerouac and Gary Snyder, drew me into the curious life of a writer who draws from experience. In "Dharma Bums" case, highlighting experience with dear ones climbing mountains.
Favorite Artist(s) and/or Inspirations?
Gary Snider, John Keats, T.S. Elliot, Emily Dickenson, Robert Sund, Van Gogh...
Favorite Piece You've Created?
My last album, Eel Grass Music. The album cover is a print block of my skiff, "Silverstein." The album is eighteen tracks and includes acoustic guitar, fiddle, banjo, penny whistle, vocal harmonies, mandolin, harmonica, and egg shaker.
What’s the most challenging part of being an artist?:
The most challenging part of being an artist, I'd say, is to keep evolving as a person who practices expressive art.
How can people be supportive of the arts?
They can participate in the arts, appreciate the arts, and reflect on the arts in writing and conversation. Buying art and shopping for art supplies supports the arts. Tipping street musicians and buying tickets to music and art shows also supports the arts.
