Happy 2023!

We’ve been reflecting on the “Best of 2022,” from our Top 5 Stories of the Year to the Top 6 New Businesses in Everett. Next on the list, we thought we’d check in on home prices over this last year. Let’s look at Everett's least and most expensive home sales from 2022.*

Least expensive

To find Everett’s least expensive home sale, we started sifting through homes that sold for less than $350,000 in 2022. 19 results appeared. Naturally, many homes in this price range were fixer-uppers or had already been featured in our prior home sale updates (see 2022 Quarter One Update, 2022 Quarter Two Update). We were looking for a single-family home that was essential move-in ready. This cute one-bedroom on East Marine View Drive seemed like a good contender.

Sold on April 15, 2022, for $340,000. Not a ton of space with just over 600 square feet, but the large yard, off-street parking, and move-in ready condition are undoubtedly lovely perks to this apartment or condo alternative.

Of course, a larger home more suitable to families will be more expensive, making the dream of homeownership a stretch for many.

Most Expensive

On the other end of the spectrum, the most expensive home sale of the year (that we hadn’t already featured) was this sale of Everett’s historic Moody Mansion on Rucker Hill. Immaculately updated with five bedrooms, over 5,600 square feet, and gorgeous views. The Moody Mansion sold in February 2022 for $2,474,000. A large price tag, sure, but there is a cute play house in the back, so it was kind of a two-for-one deal, right?

So there you have it, Everett’s least and most expensive home sales of the year.

Interestingly, when we did this same comparison last year for 2021, Everett’s least expensive home sale was considerably less, and the most expensive was considerably more. Of course, looking at the extreme ends of the pricing spectrum is more-so interesting rather than indicative of the market as a whole. According to Redfin, the current median price of a single-family home in Everett is about $590,000.
