Incredible Upgrades, Minimal Stress: Granite Transformations

Editor’s note: the following story is about one of our Live in Everett Members. Our Members help power Live in Everett. You can learn more about them here.

One of the best parts of homeownership is being able to renovate and remodel the spaces to your liking. It's one of the worst parts, too. Even a small kitchen or bathroom reno takes a month if you're lucky, usually longer. Contractors are hard to find, and there are endless combinations of paint, tile, cabinets, and fixtures.

Did I just talk you out of it?

Maybe you're like me and mostly like your kitchen. We replaced the appliances a couple of years after we moved in and replaced an old ugly faucet after the spray button that popped off finally wouldn't pop back on any more. There are lots of large projects around the house we won't be diving into any time soon, but a new countertop in that kitchen would be great. The current one will melt for sure if we put anything hot on it, and there are already several knife marks.

That's why I was excited to learn about new Live in Everett member Granite Transformations, which specializes in resurfacing existing kitchen and bathroom countertops, rather than removing them and installing new ones. They also reface cabinets and can lay new backsplashes over existing surfaces, giving your kitchen a new look in just a few days. If you're just adding a new countertop? Their no-demolition installation usually takes a day.

Ideally one would go to their showroom in Mukilteo to check out the options or schedule a free in-home consultation. Since those aren't possible while observing quarantine, I drew a diagram of our counters with measurements, and sent it via email along with photos. Then I started playing with their Kitchen Visualizer.

Senior design consultant Tom Greenwood got back to me quickly to provide an estimate and tell me more about their products. I learned that their engineered stone countertops are only ¼ inch thick, but stand up to heat, impact, and cuts better than any other product. Here's a great video comparing the durability of Granite Transformations versus a traditional granite countertop.

Granite Transformations' products are manufactured in the US and are covered by a lifetime limited warranty for residential customers. Installation is handled by their own employees rather than subcontractors, so you deal with one company only. While they specialize in resurfacing existing countertops, Granite Transformations can work with you on new construction projects as well.

Being quarantined isn't normally a great time for home improvements, but a quick change from Granite Transformations can have a big impact. Visit their website today and get inspired.
