Mastering the Art of Social Media: 5 Takeaways from The Lab@Everett's Small Business Event

The Downtown Everett Association recently hosted an event on social media marketing, “Maximizing Your Business's Potential on Social Media.” We thought we'd share a few takeaways for our busy local small business owners who couldn’t make it to the event that took place at The Lab@everett

John Rollins, the owner of Social EKG, shared the most effective strategies for using social media to promote your business and engage with your target audience. Rollins was down to earth, shared good tips, and admitted much of what he shared were probably things we already knew but were good reminders nonetheless. Here are 5 of our top takeaways.

  1. Be Genuine and Cater to Your Specific Audience
It's important for businesses to focus on their niche and cater to their specific audience rather than trying to please everyone. Being genuine and authentic can help businesses build trust and loyalty with their followers.

  2. Utilize Google My Business
Google My Business is a free tool to help businesses manage their online presence on Google, including search and maps. Businesses can improve their online visibility and reach more customers by optimizing their Google My Business profile.

  3. Incorporate TikTok into Your Social Media Strategy
TikTok is a rapidly growing social media platform that businesses can use to reach a younger demographic. Businesses can gain followers and increase their brand awareness by creating engaging and entertaining content.

  4. Track, Target, and Measure ROI
When it comes to social media advertising, it's important for businesses to track their results and measure their ROI. By knowing their acquisition cost and targeting their audience effectively, businesses can improve their advertising performance and achieve better results.

  5. Show Up Genuinely and Incessantly
Consistency is key when it comes to social media marketing. Businesses should aim to post regularly and engage with their followers consistently. Businesses can use sounds and hashtags to categorize their content to improve their content discoverability and reach a wider audience.

While these tips only scratch the surface, it was indeed a good refresher to hear Rollins’ advice. Huge thanks to everyone who helped plan, host, and put on this free event. We hear the Downtown Everett Association may be hosting more events from their Entrepreneur Education series, so we’ll be sure to add those to our events calendar as they come up.
