Pi Day Just Got Sweeter: Pisces Pies' Grand Opening in Everett
Editor’s Note: Originally published March 8, 2023.
Pisces Pies, a new pie shop specializing in hand-rolled pies made with local fruit, is set to open in Everett on March 14th, which also happens to be Pi Day.
Angela Freese, the owner of Pisces Pies, is excited to bring her family's pie-making tradition to the community and offer a cozy spot for people to enjoy fresh pies and coffee.
"I grew up in Eastern WA, and my mother and my grandmother always baked pies," says Freese. "I loved being out in the fields eating the fresh fruits, and eating fresh baked pies."
Freese's passion for pies led her to start selling fruit pies to local markets four years ago, but she always dreamed of having her own bakery where people could gather and savor pies made with the best ingredients.
What sets Pisces Pies apart from other bakeries is its commitment to using fruit directly from local farms and hand-rolling all the pies. "I think it is so important to connect with farmers and continue to have the best ingredients in our product," says Freese. "We don't use any devices to create the beautiful pies."
The bakery will offer a variety of pie flavors, including fruit, cream, and specialty sweet pies in multiple sizes and crust types. Sugar-free and gluten-free options will also be available. In addition, customers can enjoy cookies, coffee cakes, sweet breads, and tarts. The coffee/tea bar will be fully stocked, the bakery will have seating for about 40 people, and a rolling station where customers can watch Freese roll pies and ask questions.
Pisces Pies is a higher-end pie shop, but Freese hopes it will be a destination for everyone who appreciates delicious pies and a cozy atmosphere. "Pisces Pies will be a place where you feel at home and eat pie like your grandmother used to bake," she says. "It's for couples, college students, local neighborhood visitors, or for the single person to sit at the coffee bar and have a slice of pie and enjoy the atmosphere."
The bakery is located at 1502 Rucker Avenue (formerly Cafe Zippy/Under the Red Umbrella) in the historical area of Everett, which Freese says has a small-town feel that is perfect for her bakery. The grand opening of Pisces Pies will take place on March 14th at 9 AM, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a variety of treats available for customers to try. Freese will be rolling pies at the station and is looking forward to sharing her bakery with the community.
"I am very excited to share the bakery with everyone!" she says. "I love seeing people happy and enjoying a piece of pie."
See you at the Grand Opening!
