Every Monday Night
Basically, a session is a gathering of musicians for the purpose of playing tunes in a relaxed, informal setting–preferably with a social beverage or two!
It is a chance to learn (and pass on) music as part of the tradition from which it has come.
The instruments that are used are particular to IRISH music. These include the fiddle, the wooden flute, whistle, button accordion, tenor banjo, concertina, & the Irish (uillean) pipes. ‘Backup’ instruments may be here on occasion, but only to support those playing melody. The Irish drum (bodhran) should be used like good perfume–lightly & sparingly!
