Summer Saturdays: Development of the Spitfire – Part 2: Until the End

Learn about the continued development of the Merlin powered land based fighter, and the factors that drove key decisions in that development, including the subsequent transition to the Rolls-Royce Griffon engine. Compare the improvements in the performance are of the Spitfire with its opponents. Discover how the Spitfire was developed as a photo-reconnaissance platform and as a carrier-based fighter, the Seafire. In summary, examine the career of the Spitfire by comparing the prototype to the final production model.

Admission to the presentation is $5 in addition to standard museum admission.
