6 Reasons I Love Forest Park’s New Playground

This story is brought to you by Live in Everett Member, Lamoureux Real Estate.

My toddler loves going to the park, and Forest Park playground has become one of our favorites. This new park was actually completed right before Covid hit, which closed it for a number of months. The playground is now back open. Here’s just a few things I love about it.

Rosie the Elephant

Did you know Forest Park used to have an elephant? Like, an actual real elephant? Her name was Rosie. Which is why the elephant that now sits near the center of the playground is a fitting homage to Forest Park’s rich history.

It’s huge

According to the City of Everett’s website, the City has 20 playgrounds. But Forest Park has to be one of the largest. The playground is nicely spread out with a ton of options for kids of all ages. With so many fun obstacles to play on, Forest Park is sure to get your kiddo nice and tired out before nap time.

Zero entry merry-go-round

One of the seemingly more popular toys is the zero-entry merry-go-round. A bit of a different style than a traditional raised merry-go-round, this large spinning toy has two benches inside and sits flush with the ground, which makes it ADA accessible and that much easier and safer for all kids to have fun on.

Astroturf ❤️

Ground material isn’t an exciting topic, but no one likes those pesky wood chips that most playgrounds have filling their shoes. It looks great and feels good to walk on while keeping your kiddos safe. Win-win-win.

Music

I love that the new playground has some interactive toys, including musical instruments! Take a break from the toys and get a little drumming in. Or serenade your fellow park-goers with the oversized musical bars. These are meant for the kids, but you know you want to give a quick demonstration. 😉🥁

Options

Forest park simply has a lot of options in general, whether it’s the wide array of toys in the playground, the splash park next door which is now open for the season or the many walking trails through the woods. Not to mention one of the best sledding hills in Everett when the next good snow hits. The animal farm and swimming pool are currently closed, but even then, Forest Park has a little something for everyone.

And that’s why I love Forest Park. How about you? Have you been to Forest Park’s new playground yet? What did you think?

Stay tuned to Everett Parks and Community Services on Facebook for a grand reopening ceremony announcement sometime this month.
