Bricks and Minifigs Visits Seattle Children's North Clinic

Last month our store mascots, Evan and Evie, took the kids (little Edward and baby Edie) to the Seattle Children's open house for their brand new North Clinic in north Everett.

There were all kinds of booths and activities to introduce the community to the facilities and services that are available at this much-needed resource here in the Everett community.

Since medical facilities can be intimidating to children, the staff held a Teddy Bear Clinic to teach children about the importance of wellness checkups and vaccines. Using their teddy bears, kids were taught how doctors check your heart, respiration, temperature, and other vital statistics.

In the end, despite a sudden hiccup attack, Freddy the Teddy had a clean bill of health and will be back for a follow-up visit in six months.

The facility boasts several pediatric departments including Audiology, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, and much more.

Little Edward was fascinated to learn about Radiology and X-Rays, and even got to take an X-Ray of his teddy bear and look at the scan with the technician!

Then it was on to check out the rehabilitation gym where the family did some push-ups and learned about what services are available to kids who are recovering from accidents or major surgeries.

Baby Edie was fitted for a car seat that would actually fit her (sadly, she's still a little small for the ones that were on hand) and Edward and several other children were fitted for a bicycle helmet.

We stayed to hear opening remarks and watch the ribbon cutting, which included several local city and tribal council members. We also ran into Mayor Cassie Franklin (who we always seem to run into at these community events) before the baby started to get fussy so we decided it was time to head home to put the kids down for a nap.

Thanks to Seattle Children's Hospital for taking this big step forward (and northward) to benefit the people of Everett and the surrounding communities. Our families are looking forward to having these services right here in our own backyard!
