Good Times are Here Again: Everett Events
This story is brought to you by Live in Everett Member, Lamoureux Real Estate.
Fun is back! I remember in February 2020, adding “canceled” to most everything on our Event Calendar. The pandemic shut down all the fun things we loved to do. We found we were able to do some things online, but concerts and comedy just aren’t the same on glitchy internet connections.
But all that is in the past. Venues are booked. Fun things are on a weekly rotation. Here’s some of what is happening in Everett.
COMEDY
Regular weekly comedy shows are back Monday nights at Tony V’s Comedy Garage. Everett Improv has an amazing new location on Colby and they are offering regular shows, classes and events. Keep an eye out for all-ages shows as well as classes for the young comedian in your family. Everett Comedy Night has a line-up of shows with national headliners scheduled for the Historic Everett Theater.
MUSIC
With the exception of Cafe Zippy which is now closed, all of the pre-pandemic venues seem to have booked calendars. Black Lab Gallery has a new location and has partnered up with Sol Food which is offering tasty street food. Lucky Dime is a new venue and they often partner with Garzon, serving up Latinx street food. Port Gardner Bay Winery, in addition to shows, hosts a regular open mic night.
Some other venues with regular shows include Madison Avenue Pub, The Grape & Grain and Rocko’s Fireside.
Speaking of music, tickets are on sale for The Fisherman’s Village Music Festival scheduled May 19-21. Also, The Everett Philharmonic Orchestra and Pacifica Chamber Orchestra have spring concerts planned.
ARTS
Everett Art Walk happens on the third Thursday of every month to showcase artists’ work. A map of participating venues is posted the morning of the event here. The Bayside neighborhood is partnering with Zamarama Gallery for Art in the Park on April 9. There will be food trucks, art and musical performances at this free event.
The Wendt Awards will be at the Everett Performing Arts Center on May 12 and Everett’s unique Sorticulture garden art festival will be back June 10-12. Last year the event was held in downtown to meet covid-19 guidelines and most everyone preferred the location better than Legion Park for many reasons. It will be back downtown again this year.
Schack Art Center has Fresh Paint planned for August 20-21. It will move to downtown this year. The Artists’ Garage Sale, which is kind of like our last hurrah of summer is September 10.
TRIVIA
Was your favorite break during the week before the pandemic, grabbing a beer and playing trivia? Well, trivia nights are back too. Savvy Minds Trivia is at Brews Almighty every week on Wednesday night and Crucible Brewing is doing their themed Taproom Trivia each week on Monday nights. The Independent Beer Bar does trivia on the last Wednesday of the month.
KARAOKE
Not as many venues are hosting karaoke as there were before the pandemic. Some venues told us they aren’t ready to start up again and we are trying to get in touch with others. Lucky Dime and Everett Improv are making good use of their space and hosting karaoke nights when they don’t have other events going on. 7th Street Pub, Patty’s Eggnest, Razzals and Rocko’s Fireside all have regular weekly events.
More Fun
The Everett Farmers Market opens Mother’s Day Weekend like usual and Cruzin’ 2 Colby is Memorial Day Weekend. We’ll be celebrating 4th of July at Legion park with fireworks, live music, food trucks and a beer garden.
There is a rumor of a large outdoor sporting event for downtown in July and Village Theater is back with a full season of shows and Kidstage has Matilda planned for April 15.
The Upper Left Beer Fest will be August 12-13 and The Everett Food Truck Fest will be held on August 13.
Whew! How’s that for some post-pandemic fun?
