Top Dog-Friendly Bars in Everett
Hello out there, fellow dogs of Everett. My name is Zowie (@zowiewowwie) and I know a good bar when I see it.
When my pal Hugo (@hugos_n_kisses) and I started our epic, multi-week pub crawl I didn’t know the first thing about what was important in a dog-friendly bar. But seven bars later, I am confident that we are experts. But then, I am confident about most things with very little justification.
My impressions are displayed purely in order of visit. Incidentally, there may be other dog bars in Everett that are totally worth checking out. Feel free to let me know about them. Also, there are other bars that allow dogs on a patio but not inside. I didn’t go to them. Because it’s winter. ‘Nuff said.
Toggles Bottle Shop
1420 Hewitt Ave.

Right in the heart of downtown Everett, this place is worth a stop. There are free snacks for humans, quality beer on tap, and a huge collection of bottled and canned libations stocking the wall of refrigeration toward the back. The place is big enough to allow every dog a personal bubble if need be – but I wouldn’t recommend being shy. The dogs here were not at all proponents of the “Seattle freeze”.
Earlier this year Hugo and I made our way to Toggles to get ourselves photographed during a holiday fundraiser for a local dog charity. It was our first foray into the wonderful world of dog bars and Toggles set the bar high.

The Independent Beer Bar
1801 Hewitt Ave.

If you leash up and stroll down Hewitt toward the arena, you’ll happen upon the Independent Beer Bar. A sign on the door makes it clear that dogs are 100% welcome, which is a nice stress reliever for the humans who always tense up slightly when we near the entrance to any fine establishment. A little bit of a tighter fit inside than some of the other bars, I recommend you don’t expect large amounts of personal space. It’s also a good place to watch sportsball, so expect loud cheers and keep your eyes peeled for flying pretzels.

Middleton Brewery

This place is everything. Delicious beer, cider, pizza, nachos, sandwiches, good music, and happy babies. There’s even a built-in doghouse complete with a mailbox full of treats and its own tapped water fountain. Hugo and I were able to lay down and relax even though there were at least three other dogs within sight. The super comfy tables were easy to hook a leash onto and there were carnival-type games in the back. This place is the bomb. The pizza was good, too. Which I know first-hand. Because my human loves me. Not because I stole it. Believe it.

Crucible Brewing

Packed. Although Crucible was packed when we visited, the bar was awash in sunlight and every person and dog wanted to come say hello. The beer was plentiful, the water bowls handy, and the table, at least the table we were at, was equipped with leash hooks. A room attached to the main bar with pinball machines can be reserved for a (dog-and-kid-friendly? Yes, please.) party, which I think is sweet. However, it must be mentioned that there was a hot dog stand out front when we visited, which seemed a bit on the nose to me.

Soundbite Cider

The most welcoming of all the dog bars I have visited. Hugo and I were greeted upon arrival with milk bones. We loved the calm atmosphere, soundtrack, and vintage Seattle music scene posters decorating the walls. One table of humans was playing Apples to Apples and the others were full of dog lovers. I know because they loved me (OK, they loved Hugo too). The cider was delicious according to the humans, as was the dog water bowl delivered to our table. The service here, my friends, was top notch. Also, sometime soon Soundbite is launching a “Mug Club” which once you join ($150 fee for the entire year) you get all kinds of discounts on cider and 10% of the proceeds will benefit the Everett Humane Society. This place is top-notch. Zowie-approved.

At Large Brewery

On a cold, dark, rainy night, smack dab in the middle of the week, At Large was just what the doctor ordered. Lots of tasty beer and cider for humans, plenty of room for everyone to spread out, dog treats on the counter, and friendly customers and bar staff—what more could a dog ask for?
Brews Almighty

This place was hopping when we rolled up. So hopping in fact, that even on a Wednesday night at 9 p.m., I didn’t get to sample the wares. From the outside it was clear that the humans and dogs lucky enough to have secured a spot were having a grand old time. It looked friendly and welcoming to me. Keep an eye out for me, Brews Almighty. I’ll be back.
