Worth Leaving Town For: Lake Stevens' Biscuit & Bean

While Biscuit & Bean isn't in Everett, its location shares deep roots with Everett's history.

The Rucker Brothers of Everett's founding fame are also credited as the founders of Lake Stevens; or at the very least, what would eventually turn into Lake Stevens. Initially, it was known as Hartford, and it was the site of the Rucker Brothers Lumber Mill.

Located in the same part of old town Lake Stevens next to Jay's Market, these days you will find the oh-so quaint little coffee shop, Biscuit & Bean. Serving up big yum via their house-made biscuits, spreads, and gravy.

One day, I stumbled upon the shop looking for a cup of coffee and a wi-fi signal. Of course the fact that it was an independent coffee shop was a bonus; and once I realized how scrumptious their biscuits were, that was an even bigger bonus!

I am a sucker for a good biscuit.

There's a reason why the Totem Diner and Strawberry Patch Cafe are two of my favorite Everett eateries.

Good biscuits.

Biscuit & Bean's biscuit offerings are minimal but delicious.

They make their buttermilk biscuits daily and have at least one other unique biscuit flavor available each day such as pepperjack Tapatio or rosemary lemon pepper with parmesan.

They have three biscuit sandwich options available daily. I opted to keep it simple and classic with the egg and cheese on the buttermilk biscuit.

My biscuit was well-cooked with a crispy exterior and a firm but soft interior. It was a buttery delight with great texture and flavor, and the scrambled egg with melted cheddar cheese just brought it home.

Biscuit & Bean also serves up biscuits and gravy, and various spreads of jams, butters, and even herbed goat cheese and bacon jam. They also offer mini biscuits, bulk orders, wholesale, and delivery through Doordash.

The modern rustic vibe of the space is inviting, but the indoor seating is limited to just a few tables. There are a handful of tables outside on the covered sidewalk. And if the weather is decent, North Cove Park is immediately across the street, perfect for a lake-side picnic.

Biscuit & Bean is open for breakfast and lunch, but don't get there too late if you want a specific biscuit because they sometimes run out! Go try a biscuit and decide for yourself, if Biscuit & Bean is worth leaving town for.

If you've tried them out, let us know what you think in the comments!
