Everett Itinerary: Ultimate Foodie Weekend

One of the best ways to experience a city is through its food. Whether it's with a visitor from out of town, or a friend who just moved here, here's an itinerary for a weekend of restaurant-hopping that'll impress and satisfy.

FRIDAY NIGHT

After you pick them up at Paine Field or Everett Station and get them settled in their hotel or your guest room, get to White Buffalo so you can catch up over drinks. If you're hungry, order a large pizza right away because they can take a while. Try The Bomb: a white sauce base with fajita chicken, artichoke hearts, bacon bits, sun-dried tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, olives, and garlic. It sounds like a lot, because it is, and it's delicious. There are plenty of other pizza options if it sounds like too much, plus salads, sandwiches, nachos, and more. A classic menu from a beloved Evergreen Way hangout.

SATURDAY

We're lucky in Everett to have lots of breakfast options open early on weekends and a fun one for guests is Vintage Cafe. They'll be charmed by the old photos and stained glass before being bowled over by their huge, tasty breakfast. If you overdid it the night before, take the edge off with a bloody mary and chicken fried steak. Not so hungry? Grab the mini special or mini omelet. Breakfast is served all day and they do fun specials, too.

Non-food activities like Future of Flight and High Trek Adventures may take you south. If so, you should follow Airport Road to 128th and get lunch at 9 Delicacies. Its menu is full of creative Korean fusion surprises in sandwich, salad, and plate form, and you can combine tossing and dipping sauces on the fried chicken 40 different ways. Order something spicy and wash it down with their legendary ginger lemonade.

Every visitor needs to see the marina, so head to Lombardi's for a scenic, sumptuous dinner. Garlic lovers should choose the angelica della morte as one of the three toppings on the bruschetta sampler, and buy a jar to take home as a stinky souvenir. The two-page dinner menu is deceptively large, with an impressive and frustrating selection of appetizers, salads, pizza, pasta, and entrees. Plus steaks! And a separate dessert menu. If you're close enough with your friends to take bites from each other's plates, Lombardi's is a perfect place to do it.

By now you're probably pretty full, but if your friend likes cocktails, they need a nightcap at Bluewater Organic Distilling. Fresh ingredients mixed masterfully with spirits distilled on site make for mind-blowingly good drinks, and you can grab a bottle of spirits and a jar of pre-made mixer for another couple of rounds back home.

Sunday

You've already done so much this weekend, Sunday is a day to slow down a bit. Sleep in, then get brunch and dinner instead of trying to cram three more meals in. For a big brunch that'll stay with you all afternoon, head to The New Mexicans for huevos rancheros, biscuits and gravy, or a giant crispy pancake. The huge-but-inexpensive cinnamon roll is a local legend, perfect for sharing or taking to-go. Don't miss the impressive cocktail selection with eight margarita options.

Sunday's dinner needs to be special. Clarity of flavor, rich with spice, and expertly prepared. Terracotta Red is known for all this and more, so consider calling the day before to make a reservation so you don't have to wait. It's a Pan-Asian menu full of surprises like wok-seared spiced lamb, tangerine beef, and Shanghai noodles with shredded duck. And don't miss the creative desserts like deep-fried ice cream and five-spice chocolate panna cotta.

Monday

If you're heading out early to catch a plane or train, head to Tyler's Donuts for one of Everett's rarest and best delicacies, their ham and cheese croissant. Better than the ones from any local bakery, this croissant is hard to get because only a couple dozen are put out each morning. And with the shop opening at 4:30 a.m., you need to be up early to beat everyone else there.

This itinerary isn't for the faint of heart or the cost-conscious, but for the ultimate foodie, it's exactly what they want when they travel somewhere new. Can you keep up? Share your favorite Everett foodie destinations in the comments.
