Spoil Me at Thai Gusto

Thai Gusto is a fairly recent discovery for us but it is also now on rotation. For my first pandemic birthday I requested Thai Gusto and Indian food delivery, I was living it up - and taking full advantage of being spoiled.

But I digress…you want to hear about the deliciousness that comes out of the kitchen at Thai Gusto, not about my birthday dinner choices.

Let me tell you about some of the best dishes we have had, I’ll start with appetizers. The potstickers are deep-fried pillows of porky goodness, with a side of a sweet dipping sauce. I could make a meal out of these little snacks.

Next up on the list is fresh rolls. Vermicelli rice noodles, prawns (or tofu), lettuce, carrots, bean sprouts, and Thai basil wrapped in a rice paper wrapper and served with peanut sauce for dipping. My personal hacks for the sauce: stir in a healthy dose of Sriracha sauce to make it spicy, and forgo dipping. Fresh rolls always lose some of their guts when you dip so I prefer to spoon the sauce on each bite. And we always, always get 2 orders because I’m not sharing my fresh rolls. (I think I mentioned something about being spoiled??)

Since we are a carb-loving house, we always get a rice dish with our meal and the one we find has the best flavor and variety of ingredients is the pineapple fried rice with pork. This rice dish is so flavorful because it has yellow curry powder in it! It also boasts egg, pineapple, carrot, peas, raisins, cashews, and onions. You get spice, sweet, crunch, and a slightly nutty flavor in every bite.

For those who don’t like curry, the Thai fried rice is also very good, just not as flavorful. It is stir-fried jasmine rice with your choice of meat, egg, tomato, onions, and broccoli, topped with cilantro and sliced tomato or cucumber.

For entrees I am always torn between curries or noodles. I’m also kind of spoiled so I want it both ways (have I mentioned this about me yet??). Fortunately, Thai Gusto has a few entrees that combine curry and noodles. Their Golden Noodles are my go-to: stir fried wide rice noodles, choice of meat (get the chicken!), egg, broccoli, bell peppers, green beans, carrots, and basil in red and yellow curry sauce.

Sen Yai is also a noodle-curry combination but it takes it up a notch and adds peanut sauce. My beloved stir-fried wide rice noodles with your choice of meat, egg, broccoli, bell peppers, green beans, baby corn, and basil in red curry and peanut sauce.

For a meal that is lighter on those delicious carbs, I suggest any of the curries (especially their red!) but also their Ginger Garden. It is a gingery mix of your choice of meat (we prefer beef), mushrooms, onions, snow peas, bell peppers, and celery in a yellow bean sauce. Light and flavorful.

We are a house divided on spice level: I prefer 3-stars (out of 5) but my boyfriend prefers 1-star. Sometimes my 3-star dishes are very spicy and other times it is the perfect amount of spice. We accidentally received a 5-star crispy garlic chicken dish once, it was delicious and very spicy. We took turns nibbling the chicken all night long, daring each other to keep eating it.

While they don’t have specific menu sections for dietary restrictions, they do offer tofu as a protein and everything is heavy on the vegetables.
